Identification starts at the edge of the glass. Look for a tempered or laminated glass label etched in the corner; below it, a small aluminum stamp or adhesive label lists the series code and manufacturing quarter. Estate units carry “EC” followed by the year and quarter; Sentinel uses “SE.” If the label is painted over or sun-faded, measure the stile width and the roller housing depth. Estate rollers sit in a 1-3/8 inch deep pocket; Sentinel uses a 1-5/8 inch pocket to accommodate the heavier panel. Getting this wrong means ordering a part that looks right and binds immediately.

Signs Your CGI Sliding & Patio Door Is Failing

• The panel sticks or skips in the track. This is almost always roller failure. CGI’s stainless rollers use sealed bearings that flush out over years of pressure-washing and salt air; once the grease evacuates, the bearing races pit and the roller develops flat spots. In North Miami, we see this at six to ten years on beach-adjacent properties, twelve to fifteen inland.
• The door won’t latch without lifting the panel. The latch hook and strike plate are misaligned because the rollers have collapsed and the panel has dropped. On Estate Collection units, a 1/8 inch drop is enough to miss the strike entirely. Continuing to force it bends the hook and mushrooms the strike.
• Visible daylight or water intrusion at the sill. The sill track cap is cracked or the drainage weeps are packed with calcium from sprinkler overspray. CGI’s weep system depends on a clear path through the sill wall; North Miami’s hard water seals them shut in three to five years if not flushed annually.
• Rattling or whistling during east winds. The interlock gasket between panels has compressed or the brush seal at the jamb has pulled free. This is common after repeated impact-panel operation; the gasket takes a set and no longer rebounds.
• Condensation between glass panes. The insulated glass unit seal has failed. On CGI units with laminated impact glass, this is a full panel replacement; the IGU is factory-sealed to the laminate and cannot be field-reglazed to spec.

DIY or Call Us?
